Is project USED really happening!

I have given away hundreds of dresses in my life; dresses I find and purchase at thrift stores.  I love shopping at thrift stores; especially browsing the dress section.  You wouldn’t believe the designer clothing I find.  If I see a beautiful dress, I buy it.

Whether I need it or not, I buy it.
Impulsive shopping at its finest.

I have given dresses away to my sisters, my mother, my mother-in-law, my best friends, my nieces, my neighbors, my sisters-in-law, members of my church, members of other churches, people I’ve worked for and most exciting . . .
I’ve given dresses away to total strangers.

Yes, this is true.  I’ve given dresses to people anonymously.  I have left a bag of dresses on the doorsteps of friends of friends with lot of daughters who I know are struggling financially.

Because I know girls love dresses.
I have given dresses to babies, little girls, teenagers, mothers and grandmas.

Until I started project USED, I don’t think I realized what a dressaholic I was.

I guess I just love sharing used dresses.

Used:  secondhand; that has endured use

Secret is, I have something in common with these dresses.

My name is Laura Lofgreen and I am used.

Used:  having already been used.

1 out of 3 girls suffers from sexual abuse.
Those who suffer from sexual abuse feel used, dirty and thrown-out.

Being exposed to Dressember in 2013 and 2014 (www.dressember.com), I became empowered while wearing a dress everyday day through out the month of December, celebrating my feminine spirit and sharing it on my blog www.mydeartrash.com.  However; for me, there was a catch.  All my dresses for Dressember were from thrift stores; they were used.

With the connection between my love of thrift stores dresses and my recovery from sexual abuse, an idea was born.

Please help support and reach out; offer hope and beauty with this cause:
project USED

Those who participate are showing something used, like a dress, doesn’t mean thrown out or no longer wanted.  The dress you are photographed can be selected at your local thrift store and your photos can be sent to project USED or you can participate in the next project USED photo campaign in Tempe, AZ (date to be set).  If you attend, a used dress will be provided and it is my gift to you for contributing to this cause.

Please wear your used dress, share it and love it.
Together we can help those suffering, recovering and searching for help.

More information to come.
